The Capstone Care Leavers Trust (CCLT) awards grants to people aged 17-25 years who have been in Local Authority Care in England or Wales and are in need.

Support for Care Leavers

Many young people who have been in ‘care’, either in Local Authority foster care arrangements or in children’s homes, are expected to live independently from as young as 16 years old.  They do not have access to the same financial and family support systems that most young people experience.

Typically, Capstone Care Leavers Trust will consider awarding grants for:-

  • Further Education courses

  • Higher Education courses

  • Training courses

  • Laptops - Evidence of enrolment will be requested by the board.

  • Study Materials - Evidence of enrolment wll be requetsed by the board.

  • Household Essentials – Sofa, chairs, cooker, fridge, freezer, washing machine, bed, wardrobe, drawers.

  • Driving lessons - **Only** considered with a passed theory and employment evidence. Due to the financial consideration.

It is not however, the intention, or responsibility of the CCLT to replace grants, funding or any other types of financial support and services available to care expereinced young adults from statutory, or voluntary organisations. These areas of support must have been thoroughly explored and exhausted before we are able to consider an application for a grant.

All information that you provide to us will be treated confidentially and will only be shared with third parties relevant to the decision making process. We will monitor outcomes of grants we make, in order to help us evaluate our effectiveness and improve our service for care leavers in the future.

If you are awarded a grant from Capstone Care Leavers Trust, we will contact you in the future to obtain feedback on how the award impacted your circumstances and the goods purchased have been retained.  This will better inform us to ensure the service we are providing is helpful to assist others in the future.

Please note:

Capstone Care Leavers Trust is a registered charity in England and Wales.
