The Capstone Grant gave me the creative freedom to create my final project for university, explore and experiment my ideas without feeling guilty about my financial position.
Before getting the bursary, I didn’t know if I could afford to create my BA collection with the money I had saved up for university.

This bursary gave me the opportunity to work with artisans in Peru and to collaborate on amazing boots for my collection and use sustainable things like Peruvian plastic woven bags in my collection. I was able to create beautifully made leather pieces for my collection and collaborate and get my leather printed with my prints. I was able to expand my use of print techniques by using Laser etching my prints on denim, all of this wouldn't have been achievable without The Capstone Grant.
I am delighted to have been given a place on the RCA to study MA Menswear & Central Saint Martins to do MA Fashion. I have accepted my offer which to Study MA Fashion at Saint Martins & I will be starting in October 2020.
It’s been amazing journey studying at central saint martins, but one thing I did struggle with there are so many students who don't need to worry about money, and come from privileged backgrounds who can afford to take risks and create amazing projects, buy the most amazing fabrics and material, and those are your classmates you are being compared to for grades or awards or industry projects, to me this was difficult, but at the end of the day I realise if you are creative you have to find a way.
I wanted to make something good come out of the bad things that happened in my life, and be an example to other people who have been in care or have had hardships in their life to show them, if I could graduate and complete my course, that they can also follow their dreams and aspirations. I really would like to thank Capstone for the support and help given to me by your fantastic grant.
